Our Easter Egg Hunt at Home and at Castle Ashby

Last weekend we had lots of Easter fun with an Easter Egg Hunt at home and one at Castle Ashby. I have never been to Castle Ashby before but it was such a beautiful place with lots of different animals for the children to see. I will definitely be going back with the girls this summer.

Our Easter Hunt at home went down so well and I could not believe how quickly Mabel was with finding the next clue and eggs. Next year is going to be even more fun with both the girls working together to find the eggs.

Thank You for watching.

Simply Cook 2017

In December I tried the Simply Cook subscription box and I absolutely loved it, (you can see that review here), so when I received an email to try another box for a discounted price, I jumped at the chance.

What Simply Cook do is they send you each month 4 boxes of herbs, spices, seasonings and pastes to make 4 different meals, along with the recipe cards. Your first box is predetermined but after that, you will be able to choose what recipes you would like in your next box. As I had already received one box in December, I was able to choose the recipes this time around.

With so many recipes on offer, I found it rather difficult to pick, but I whittled it down to 4 brand new ones that I had not tried.

The Importance of having an Emergency Fund

What if you had an unexpected bill for new car tyres, or for fixing the boiler, or maybe you need money to pay your bills because you have been made redundant. Do you have those funds available now? If not what would happen, would you ask for help from friends and family, take out a loan or use a credit card? Not having those funds available in your bank for the unexpected events can be scary, which is why having an emergency fund is so important.

An emergency fund is just that. Money set aside that can cover the costs of life's unexpected events that require an immediate action. It is to keep you stable so you don't struggle or get into debt.

Meal Plan 17/04/17

This week at Tesco they had a lot of their vegetables low in price to compete with the Asda 20p offers and Aldi's 29p super 6. This was great because it meant my meals were made even cheaper. We have decided to go dairy free for a week and introduce goats milk to Mabel to see if this improves her eczema. Therefore all the meals below will be dairy free and I think it will make a nice change. The weekly total figure I think is pretty good because goats milk is really expensive and so is the free from products, but this week also included Easter Eggs for our Hunt.

Meal Plan:

Ratatouille with Bulgur

Toad in the Hole

Butternut Squash Dhal with Homemade Naan

Beef Casserole

Declutter with Music Magpie

Spring is here so we have been decluttering out the house in order to create some space. Over the past few years, we seemed to have hoarded a lot of rubbish, and I mean a lot. We have an old fashioned Pye TV just lying around for no apparent reason, other than my parents were getting rid of it so my husband took it. Random. Then there are the large boxes that are just full of CD's that we have not listened to in years, and the majority of them I would not listen to again.

This is where I turned to Music Magpie. Now they can't help me with the PYE TV, but they can help me with the CD's. Music Magpie is a place where you can sell DVD's, CD's, Books, Games, Tech items and Mobile Phones. It doesn't pay out a lot of money, so for instance, we had some CD's that we scanned in which were worth 5p or 20p, but we also had a couple of little gems that they would pay £2.50 for. When you add up all 200+ items you get to a very nice figure. I did think about selling them on eBay but CD's are not in demand and I won't be making much more when all the fees and postage are taken out of it. That's if they were to sell.
